ASUS TUF FA401 Ryzen 7 260H RTX 5060 Review: A Genuinely Light 14-Inch Gaming Laptop

The ASUS TUF FA401 pairs an efficient AMD Ryzen 7 260H processor with an RTX 5060 8GB GPU in a genuinely compact 1.46kg chassis, proving that a durable TUF-series gaming laptop doesn’t have to be bulky.

Display

The 14 inch 2.5K (2560 x 1600) IPS display runs at a fast 165Hz refresh rate with a 3ms response time, 400 nits of brightness, 100 percent sRGB coverage, G-Sync support, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. That combination keeps fast games smooth while staying sharp and accurate for everyday use.

Gaming Performance

At the core is the AMD Ryzen 7 260H processor, an 8 core, 16 thread chip boosting up to 5.1GHz with 16MB of L3 cache. Paired with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 GPU, running at up to 100W with Dynamic Boost, this combination handles current games comfortably at native 2.5K resolution. 32GB of LPDDR5X 7500MHz RAM keeps multitasking smooth, and the 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD offers fast load times, with a second M.2 slot available for future storage expansion.

Battery and Portability

A 73Whr battery with 100W USB-C fast charging supports a full day of mixed use. At just 1.46kg, this is one of the lightest gaming laptops in its performance class, making it realistic to carry daily rather than leaving it parked at a desk.

Design, Audio and Ports

The backlit chiclet keyboard includes a Copilot key and a NumberPad built into the touchpad, a useful addition for a compact 14 inch chassis. Audio comes from a 2-speaker system with Dolby Atmos and AI noise-canceling, and the camera includes both FHD and infrared sensors for Windows Hello sign-in. Connectivity is genuinely strong for this size class, with a USB4 port supporting 40Gbps data, DisplayPort 2.1 and 100W power delivery, a second USB-C port with DisplayPort 2.1 and G-Sync, two USB-A 10Gbps ports, HDMI 2.1, and a UHS-II microSD reader.
