Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop Review – 180Hz IPS Power for Bangladeshi Gamers

Last Updated: July 23, 2026

If you want a gaming laptop that prioritizes smooth motion and responsive gameplay over flashy OLED price tags, the Lenovo Legion 5 with AMD’s Ryzen™ 7 255H and RTX 5060 8GB deserves your attention. It trades the OLED panel of its siblings for a blistering 180Hz IPS display — a move that competitive gamers in Bangladesh will absolutely appreciate. At 2.4 kg, it’s built like a tank, and it performs like one too.

At Byte City BD, we see this as the sensible pick for esports enthusiasts and students who care more about frame rates than cinematic color accuracy.

❒ Performance — Built for Competitive Play

The Ryzen 7 255H is an 8-core, 16-thread chip that hits up to 4.9 GHz. It’s not the absolute top of AMD’s stack, but it’s a workhorse that handles gaming, streaming, and multitasking without drama. The integrated Ryzen AI (16 TOPS) also adds future-proofing for Windows Copilot and AI-assisted creative tools.

Paired with the RTX 5060 8GB, this Legion delivers exactly the kind of 1440p performance you’d expect from the 50-series generation:

• Esports titles: 200+ FPS on high settings — and the 180Hz display actually shows them.
• AAA games at 2560×1600: 60–80 FPS with DLSS and ray tracing enabled.
• Multitasking: 16GB DDR5-5600 keeps Chrome tabs, Discord, and Spotify running alongside your game without stutter.

The 180Hz refresh rate is the real differentiator here. Compared to 144Hz or 165Hz panels, those extra frames matter in fast-paced shooters like Valorant and CS2. The 3ms response time and G-SYNC support eliminate ghosting and tearing, giving you a genuine competitive edge.

❒ Display — Speed Over Spectacle

This is an IPS panel, not OLED. That means you won’t get the inky blacks and infinite contrast of its OLED siblings. What you do get is a faster, more responsive screen that’s arguably better for competitive gaming:

• 180Hz = smoother motion tracking and reduced input lag.
• 100% sRGB = accurate colors for everyday content creation and media.
• Anti-glare coating = comfortable under fluorescent lights or near windows.
• Low Blue Light certification = easier on the eyes during marathon sessions.

For Bangladeshi gamers who play in well-lit rooms or care more about winning ranked matches than watching HDR movies, this display is the right call.

❒ Design, Ports & Everyday Use

The white backlit keyboard is clean and functional — no RGB disco here, just solid key travel and reliable responsiveness. Port selection is generous: dual USB-C (one with 140W PD), dual USB-A, HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, and a card reader. You can charge via USB-C with a compatible adapter, dock to an external monitor, and still have ports left for peripherals.

At 2.4 kg, this is not a daily commuter. It’s a desktop replacement that occasionally moves between your desk and a friend’s place. The chassis feels solid and well-built, with minimal flex. For students who mostly game in their hostel or bedroom, the weight is a fair trade for the cooling capacity and performance inside.

❒ Battery & Thermals

The 80Wh battery delivers 4–5 hours of light productivity. Gaming requires the wall socket, as expected. Thermally, the larger chassis helps — the Legion 5 stays cooler under sustained loads than thinner alternatives. Fan noise is present during intensive gaming but stays in the “whoosh” territory rather than high-pitched whine.

Is 180Hz better than 165Hz OLED?
For competitive gaming, yes — the extra smoothness and lower response time give you a measurable edge. For movies and content creation, the OLED’s color and contrast win.

Can I upgrade the RAM?
Yes. Two SO-DIMM slots support up to 64GB DDR5-5600.

Does it support USB-C charging?
Yes. One USB-C port supports up to 140W Power Delivery, so you can use a smaller adapter for travel and light tasks.

What’s the warranty?
2 Years Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty by Lenovo through Byte City BD.

❒ The Bottom Line

The Lenovo Legion 5 with Ryzen 7 255H is a gamer’s gaming laptop. It skips the OLED glamour and instead gives you a faster 180Hz IPS panel, solid RTX 5060 performance, and room to upgrade. If you care more about climbing the ranked ladder than watching Netflix in perfect black levels, this Legion is the smarter spend.
